When is free speech protected and when is it not? Are school employees held accountable for what we say on personal social media channels? Participants will learn the foundations of free speech rights in and out of the work environment as well as what speech is protected versus not protected.

Participants will explore how personal social media intersects with free speech and review district policies and procedures about maintaining professional staff and student boundaries and following Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws.
